Tis' me again!

I'm having a really bad time of it at the moment, not only have I got embarrasing nasal hair, not only have I had a root canal which has become infected but I know have a mouse in my house! More about that in just a moment....

Sorry, I can't think of a title

'Tis only me again with another quick bloggy update thingy for ya!

Yesterday on the show live from Seaside Towers, we had Andy & Bob on from 'Dr. Jeckyll's Secretary' who were a good laugh. Andy is the lead singer in the band and Bob plays bass, although how I'm not quite sure as he is as deaf as a post! I had to give him a pair of headphones that were cranked right up for him to be able to hear whet I was saying! Andy explained how the name came about and told me about some of the songs the newly formed band perform.
If you want to see them then Queens Head in Hedon this Thursday is the place to be. Call the pub for more details on 01482 891432.

What else did we do yesterday? Well we also had comedian Chris Mayo on the show via a dodgy mobile phone call! Chris was actually travelling up to Hull on the train and his signal cut out twice! Still, I think we got out of him what we needed to know!

Dave Rymer & Camels in Abu Dhabi

Mike Brown's picture

Howdy!

Dave Rymer has just posted a new blog which reminded me that he isn't actually on this Sunday, instead he's doing the international jetsetting thing and flying off to Abu Dhabi, well I think I've found the reason as to why he's going there.

Believe it or not a beauty pageant is being held in Abu Dhabi....nothing unusual about that, other than the fact that it is for camels! YES, CAMELS!!!!

Apparently, 10,000 camels will compete against each other with the chance of their owners winning more than £4m in prize money and up to 100 cars and other prizes to be won.

Just imagine it, 10,000 camels - each and every one a stunna! Hahaha!

Television: You're fired!

Howdy!

If I had to choose between radio and TV, I'd choose radio everytime. There is very rarely anything on that is worth watching and anything that is worth watching is repeated a couple of days later anyway, which gives me more of a reason to make less of an effort to watch it!

OK, there are one or two things I watch on the goggle box, but it literally is just the one or two things. Firstly, I'm a fan of Harry Hill's TV Burp. It's funny and he often sees things on programmes that you miss or just don't think about. As sad as it sounds, I regularly watch Look North. OK news programmes are boring I know, but you have to keep your finger of the pulse of whats happening in the area haven't you? Especially when you a radio presenter, it would be daft me going on the air and not knowing something had happened locally that was important. Anyway, theyv'e got new graphics and titles as of Monday, so anoraks get your recorders ready!

Meetings, Mineral Water & The Show This Week!

Mike Brown's picture

Howdy!

Just got time for a quick catch up as I've noticed I've not blogged since last week.

Saturday was the day of the big Seaside FM presenters meeting and it was great to see so many of them in the same place at the same time. People may think that we all see each other all of the time but as we all present on different days and live in different areas it's hard to get everyone together. We were given the lowdown by the boss about our future plans and how well we've done so far, it's alweays nice to have a pat on the back isn't it?After the meeting we all legged it to the nearest boozer for a bit of a chinwag, gossip and general mucking around over a pint or seven, obviously as I don't drink I stuck mineral water!

Apostrophes & School

Howdy!

A few things have been on my mind since I last blogged, being a very sharing person I feel the need to share this with you.

I recently had a conversation with our webmaster regarding the Apostrophe, that's one of these ' for those of you who don't know! It's been a long time since I left school and it's very likely that I have (or I've) become a tad lazy when it comes to using the correct grammar. I also blame the fact that so many people use text speak alot, infact there was that piece in the news recently which said how new mothers (probably chavs) were naming their children things like "An" instead of "Anne" and "Lora" instead of "Laura", how lazy is that!?

The world has gone mad!

I really enjoyed myself yesterday, sometimes I feel like I've enjoyed it maybe a little too much! The show was a specially extended one and ran from 12 until 6pm which is just as well as there was way too much to cram into just 4 hours!

Here comes the sun!

How are you?! At the start of the week I was dead against all of this putting the clocks forward mallarky, especially as it meant I'd be loosing an hours kip. But, as it turns out it's made all the difference. I get to go home from work in the day light and people Icome into contact with are much happier and this makes me happy! So everything is good at the mo!!

As Dave Rymer is away this week on a cheese tasting course, I'll be looking after things on the station from midday. So, expect to hear some new features that you may not be used to. If they work then we'll include them in the show permanantly, if not then I'll be selling my ideas to other presenters! Away from Seaside FM, I have a few other plans in the pipeline, so the show is going to be growing in the not to distant future, well...that is if I get my way!

A few future guests to look forward to on the show now. I am pleased to announce that

Beware: The Night Bus!

Mike Brown's picture

Howdy!

Details of this weeks show coming up, but first I have something that I need to get of my chest! That makes a change I hear you cry!!!

OK here goes... I was working late all of last week, and by late I mean until 11.30pm which isnt the most sociable hour to be working until. It also begs the question how am i going to get home after that? Well, on a Friday and Saturday there is a Late Night bus service, problem solved? Nope!

In Hull, weve just had a brand spanking new 'interchange' built, I tried calling it a bus station to a bus driver the other day but I was instantly put down, "bus station? whats that" said the cocky bus driver!! Anyway, so as so much money has been spent on this 'interchange' you'd think that the buses would actually depart from it? Wrong again.
