Humberside Police Lifestyle returns for 2012!

For an outstanding 24 years, the Humberside Police Lifestyle project has attracted in excess of 147,200 young people working a staggering 2 ½ million hours to help others during the summer holidays. On the 10th May, the official Launch of Lifestyle will take place; enabling thousands of young people aged between 10-16 years old throughout Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North and North East Lincolnshire to team up with their friends and make a real difference to the areas they live and part of one of the area’s leading youth projects.

Alzheimer’s Society Carer Information and Support Programme to take place in Withernsea!!

Dementia

Alzheimer’s Society is to run a Carer Information and Support Programme for people caring for a family member or friend with a recent diagnosis of dementia.

The four workshops aim to provide information and support on topics including: ‘what is dementia?’, ‘how you can support and care for someone with dementia’, ‘the support services that are available’, and ‘planning for the future’ It will also give people the opportunity to talk in a friendly and confidential environment about their experiences.

TT Fans Race off from Leeds Bradford Airport to see Guy Martin

Yorkshire-based TT fans can once again take advantage of an enhanced timetable of flights between Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) and the Isle of Man, for the world famous motor-racing festival.

Over the course of the two-week event taking place between the 26 May and 8 June, there will be ten additional flights, including some day returns with prices starting from £39.95 one-way including taxes and charges.

Eastenders to host a Sport Relief Mile

Easington United Association Football Club (in association with Easington Recreation & Sports Association) is running a Sport Relief Mile at the Easington Recreation & Sports Ground (Low Farm) on Sunday 25 March 2012.

We are inviting everyone to come along to help raise money for a great cause, to have fun and in the case of our fellow sporting clubs, a team bonding experience.

The event opens at 10:15am and the race starts at 11:00am. Prior to the start of the race there will be a mass fun warm up. The starting point is the Car Park at the Sports Ground.

Count down to the Keyingham Diamond Jubilee Day celebration.

Monday 4th June (15 weeks to go) will be the day to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in Keyingham. Plans now underway. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic and join in the games, sports and other events that will take place from 12 noon on the Saltaugh Road playing fields. There will not be an entrance fee and there will be a gift for the local (primary school age and below) children. Fund raising events start with a car boot sale on 17th March, followed by two others 14th April and 19th May, Boyes Lane, Keyingham.

Keyingham residents are being given a unique opportunity to have their say about how they’d like the old Board School to be used. “We have now confirmed that the building appears to be structurally sound” says Dominic Boynton, chair of the Keyingham Board School Action Committee.

I know its Christmas but I thought I would take the opportunity to let you know how things are getting on and perhaps give you something to ponder upon as an alternative to Turkey and TV repeats.

Following the open day lots of you were good enough to spontaneously write to English Heritage expressing your concerns about the state of the Tower and how important it was that the tower was saved. As I told you in my last letter EH were very surprised! But there is no doubt that as a result PHT crept up the agenda.
