Mike Brown meets Trevor Lock
Me with Trevor Lock outside of Bar Fusion in Hull.
Trevor appeared on my show prior to his performance at the Hull Comedy Festival.
You may recognise Trevor from the telly as he has appeared on numerous comedy vehicles, like 'This Morning with Richard not Judy' in which he was Stewart Lee and Richard Herring's slave and he hasn't allowed to speak as this would mean that he'd have to be paid more! More recently he has acted in Channel 4's 'Star Stories' - in which he played Michael Parkinson, Billy Bob Thornton, Glenn Hoddle, Emilio Estevez and Ant McPartlin.
He has also co-hosted radio shows with Russell Brand on both BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2, where he was mocked, and bullied, all in the name of comedy of course! Listeners complained about this as they thought it would give a bad example to younger listeners, I think they just felt sorry for him!? He has also writen plays which have been aired on BBC Radio 4's Afternoon Play slot.
His weekly comedy showcase 'Trevor Lock's Philosophy Society' ran for 18 months to sell out audiences in Leicester Square in 2007/8. Trevor has aslo toured the UK supporting both Stewart Lee and Russell Brand, and of course he's appeared in Hull several times as part of C69 comedy.
At the time that I rang him for a chat, he was in H&M's changing room trying on a jacket! A discussion then followed about how little cash he had in his pocket. Trevor and Frank Sidebottom (who was my studio guest on the same day) then had a chat about which gig listeners should go and see as they were both appearing in Hull on the same day. Bizzare and rather random, but very entertaining none the less!
