Withernsea Town Plan Launch

Withernsea Town Plan Launch

Dignitaries at the Launch of the new Withernsea Town Plan launch.

Thursday 29th November 2009 was a very important day for the town of Withernsea. The town plan was officially launched and two of the top East Riding officers were in attendance to receive a copy on behalf of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. Two of our ward councillors, Cllr Richard Stead and Cllr John Parsons were also there to add their support to the ambitions of the town.

Former Mayor of Withernsea, Cllr Gordon Hodgson said in the introduction page that “It is crucial that there is a clear vision for our future which has been developed through consultation with our residents and this, I am proud to say, has been conscientiously carried out.

Current Mayor, Cllr Kevan Hough said in his launch speech, “It is an important step forward for our town as our town plan will help to inform both our local authority and potential funders what we need to take Withernsea forward.” He thanked everyone for their hard work in its production and also thanked DEFRA and Humber & Wolds Rural Community Council for providing the funding required to produce the document.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s chief executive, Nigel Pearson described the plan as brilliant and said that he was happy to support it and would work with the town council to implement it.

The plan is at present being delivered to every home and business in Withernsea.
