ACTION PACKED SUMMER AT WITHERNSEA ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND

The new adventure playground in Withernsea is celebrating its first summer holidays with an action-packed programme to suit everyone.
Activities available every day at the adventure playground include outdoor games and sports, sand and water play, creative activities, arts and crafts, table tennis, table football, pool and computer games (Xbox and Wii). Organisers also plan in extra activities according to the children's interests, such as cooking, "self-build", gardening and special themes.
This is the playground's first summer so organisers are trying a variety of different times for the sessions, planned as much as possible in partnership with other providers, so that the activities complement rather than duplicate one another. We are also trialing some sessions just for under eight year olds and their parents/carers.
Our big day of celebration will be Playday on Friday, 6th August, 10 am - 3 pm, at the Adventure Playground and in the park.
Fiona Thompson, Pathfinder manager, said: "We are very grateful to all our partners for their help with organising and running the day. There will be lots of exciting play activities including "snug fit" play equipment, face painting, fun games and craft activities.
"In the morning, we will also be doing self-build and woodwork, and in the afternoon there will be family sports and camp fire cooking.
"The national theme for Playday this year is "Our Place", which is perfect for the pride that the children feel in their new facility."
The next steering group meeting will be held at 7.15 pm, on Tuesday 17th August, in the adventure playground building - you are warmly invited to attend, along with anyone else who would like to find out more.
