2010 Easington Bogey Race Launched

The plans for this year’s Easington Bogey Race fundraising activities are officially being put into motion. The annual event, which has raised £11,923 for Dove House Hospice to date, will take place on Sunday 29th August and will have an Arabian Nights theme.
The Bogey Race takes place every year and involves local people building Bogies (non-motorised, go cart type vehicles) and competing in a race around the village. This year the organizing committee is hoping to beat the £2615 which was raised at the 2009 event and are planning a great day with activities for all the family.
Karinda Jones, fundraising coordinator at Dove House Hospice, said: “The Bogey Race is such a fun event and brings the whole community together. This year we are hoping that more local people will get involved and enter the race – even if they don’t live in Easington itself. Arabian nights is the theme that has been selected for this year and we hope to see lots of magic carpets, camels and genies in their lamps racing around the village!”
The committee is also looking for anyone who thinks they can help in any way from running a stall on the day, donating a prize or helping create the Arabian Nights atmosphere. This year’s event is expected to be bigger and better than ever so if you would like to be involved please contact the Dove House Hospice fundraising team on (01482) 785743 or pop into The White Horse pub in Easington and leave your details.
