Scarlet Lights, Pubs and the Beeb

Well my guests on Sunday were a bit of a handful (in more ways than one!) werent they!? If you didn't hear the show then shame on you! My guests were all 5 members of Scarlet Lights Theatre Company. Lucy, Caroline, Louisa, Kerrie and Emma came in to tell me how the group came about, how they met and were they hope to take it...the theatre company that is!

Don't forget that Scarlet Light's will be performing at the Carnivale 69 event in Hull on Sunday 17th February, also appearing will be James Christopher (my guest this coming Sunday) and the legendary Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre, now that has got to be worth seeing! Tickets are £5 in advance and can be bought from Durty Nellies pub on High Street in Hull or by calling 01482 225212.

I'd like to say congratulations to both The Hop & Vine and The Wellington public houses in Hull for jointly winning the CAMRA Hull Pub of The Year. Also, well done to The Green Dragon in Beverley which has been named East Riding Town Pub of The Year and The Crooked Billet at Ryhill for being crowned as East Yorkshire Village Pub of The Year.

I've got a few days off from my proper job this week, so I'll mostly be down the pub myself this week (that's not like me is it?!). On Tuesday, I'm off to London to have a look round the BBC Television Centre at Shepherds Bush which should be quite interesting, expect a blog about it later in the week. Did you know there actually going to move out of that building and sell it!? It doesn't seem right to leave such a historic place of British broadcasting history to me. Still, at least I get to have a look backstage before it closes down.

Before I go did, you know that Octopuses eat themselves when they become upset. Seriously, when an Octopus becomes stressed, it may eat a part of itself, starting with the tips of their arms and working their way up. This is called autophagy, a specific type of self-cannibalism. Now you can say you've learnt something this week. The Mike Brown Radio Show: its an education.

Until Sunday at 2pm, take care.
