Mike Brown's Pub of the Week: The Pipe and Glass Inn in South Dalton, East Yorkshire

Hello!
It's time for this weeks pub of the week, and this time round it's a gastropub just outside of Beverley called The Pipe and Glass.
I've visited The Pipe and Glass on several occasions since discovering it a few years ago and I have to say I love it, so I was happy to read that the pub is winning awards left, right and centre. Most recently, it's been awarded a prestigious Michelin star (the first restaurant in East Yorkshire as it happens) and Yorkshire Dining Pub of the Year in the 2011 edition of The Good Pub Guide. Despite winning the awards, nothings changed, no price hikes and no tiny portions, although the bar has recently been refurbished.
It's a country pub which serves great locally sourced food in relaxed surroundings, they even serve Wold Top bitter which is made here in East Yorkshire... personally, being a cider-drinker, I always opt for a nice pint of Weston's Old Rosie scrumpy, which I'm always pleased to see on the bar.
There are several menus, including an Evening Menu, an Afters Menu, a Lunch Menu, a Vegetarian Menu and even a Little Peoples Menu, no I didn't order from that before you ask!
On my last visit, I ordered Roast Loin of Red Deer, Juniper Creamed Cabbage, Thyme Rosti, Haggis Fritter and Stewed Redcurrants fromthe specials board which was out of this world. For dessert, I had the Cinder toffee ice cream with chocolate honeycomb bites which may be a little sickly for some, but if you have a sweet tooth like me then I recommend it!
The Pipe and Glass is about an hour away from Withernsea (Click here for a map) and about 35 minutes from Hull (Click here for a map). Alternatively, you could just call The Pipe and Glass on (01430) 810246 and I'm sure they'll be happy to direct you.
Want to try it? Then you have good taste! The Pipe and Glass closes on Mondays and a couple of weeks every January, so it's worth checking the website or calling to check before you set off.
Cheers!
Mike.
