Mike Brown meets Martin & Mel from Carnivale 69 Comedy

This is me with Martin and Mel from Carnivale 69 Comedy.

Martin Davis and Melinda Foster are the organisers of the Carnivale 69 comedy night held in Hull.

Between them they promote and book acts for one of the only comedy nights in the area which is "very time consuming but well worth it" Martin told me.

They spoke to me about their plans to rival the comedy of the south by bringing big names to the area and giving newer comedians a platform to get started on the comedy circuit.

The also brought the host of their comedy night James Christopher with them to the studio, apparantly he couldn't be trusted on his own!

Update:

C69 has recently switched venues from Durty Nellies in the town centre to the Zest bar on Newland Avenue, Hull. The night is held on the 3rd Sunday of every Month.

They have also launched a second night at Bar Fusion on Cottingham Road called 'Comedy Crash Pad'.

The next C69 event will feature Russell Kane with his 'Edinburgh Preview' at Zest, Newland Avenue in Hull on Sunday 21st June 2009

Appearing on pretty much everything from TV and Radio Russell is a formidable entertainer, pacing back and forth on stage like a man possessed! Recently Russell took to the stage of the famous London Apollo for 'Live at the Apollo' om BBC1. Taking the headline spot, Russell wowed a 3000 strong crowd in the auditorium and a whle new fan base in the millions of people at home.
