On air now: Non-Stop Seaside FM
Drinking....and on a school night!

Howdy!
Another corker of a wireless programme is over for another week and now I can get back to being erm normal...well normal-ish!
On Sunday's show my guests were Hull duo 'Cracktown'.
I have seen Cracktown perform once or twice around the town but I've normally been drunk as a skunk so I wasn't really sure what to expect. The pair are Silver Fox (who sings and plays the harmonica or kazoo, and why not!?) and King Rat (who sings and plays the guitar). The Silver Fox is an interesting character and at times a man after my own heart. Some have said his on air rants were close to genius, others have said "who was that insane bloke on your show this week!?" Still, the live music went down well (apart from with the girl at AJ's next door, but she never likes what I play anyway!) and it was good to have something that isn't run of the mill, believe me Cracktown are about as alternative as you can get!
By the way, thank you to everybody for the insomnia tips. Most of them I have tried, some of them I'll be trying this week and the rest of them are probably illegal!
Last Night (Monday), was The Radio Academy Quiz in Hull. This has got to be the biggest, most anoraky event I have ever been to in my life! Think of a radio presenter from the Yorkshire area and I guarentee you that he/she was there! BBC Radio Humberside, Viking FM, Galaxy, Real Radio, BBC Radio York, KCFM, WHCR, Hallam FM, The Pulse & Radio Aire all had teams and there were several hospital stations there too!
The whole thing was hosted by Simon Hirst (never heard of him!!) and the guest of honour was none other than the legend that is Tony Blackburn!
It was great to see so many people who I have worked with in the past and even my old boss Roger was there (I worked with him on a station called Soul City FM). Rog is now the station director at Galaxy, the lucky b*stard! Anyway, as Seaside FM didn't have a team, I joined my old mates on the Kingstown Radio team. We actually did quite well (especially in the jingle montage round!), I think we came about fifth and the team from Real Radio actually won, personally I think they cheated!
On Wednesday, I'm going to see Sandi Thom at The Lamp in Hull, hopefully she'll talk to me, but you know what these stars are like! I'm expecting to have to barge into her dressing room and demand an interview! If your reading this Sandi, keep your pants on just incase I do...on second thoughts! Dave Abbott, a former guest of Paul Ashworth will be suporting Sandi on the night so it should be a good bash!
I also said I'd go and see Shirley Higton (friend of the show!), who is performing at The Adelphi that very night. Im not sure how I'm going to get both in but I am determined that I will! I'll report back the day after and let you know how it went!
On Thursday, I've been invited to Comedy & Music Exchange at The Dorchester again to see The Hariwatts Band & Andy Train. It should be a good night so if you can get a ticket get one and get yourself there!
On Friday, I'm out again. However, this time it's more pleasure than business as it's my works night out. Still, I'll propably still have a recorder on me just incase I happen to bump into any interesting bands or tramps in the street for that matter, they always have a good story to tell!
Saturday is my day off (I'll probably need it to recover after the mental week I'm having!) and Sunday is the day of the award winning Mike Brown Radio Show, OK its not award winning but I did get a swimming certificate once at school, does that count?!
Have a great week and we'll talk on Sunday at 2.
