On air now: Minted!
Bras, 69s, Bananas & Cider

Howdy!
It was another busy show on Sunday, infact it was like a 34C bra on a 34DD woman, erm what I'm trying to say is that it spilled over the edges into Dave's show a little bit! It couldnt be helped, I'm getting it measured up properly for next week!
My first guest was Sam "happy to be here" Jones. Now, I wasnt really sure what to expect from Sam, I had never seen him play live and his my space page didnt give much away at all. I was pleasantly surprised by his witty songs and his quirky humour and to be honest when actually saw him later on in the night at Durty Nellies he went down really well. The highlight of his set was him attempting to be every member of a boy band, this is something I can't really go into to much detail about here as it was a little rude so i guess you'll just have to try and catch him when he's on next!
After 3, local band Fine 69 came in to tell me about The Battle of The Bands competition they were in and how they hoped to scoop the prize! The group performed two tracks live and I played two from their CD, after listening I can see why the guys are doing so well and I'll be playing another track on the show this week. Lead singer Kenny told me how they were actually lined up for interviews at both KCFM & BBC Radio Humberside after they'd finished on my show! At last, some guests who were on my show first!! When I welcome a guest into the studio I always find myself apologising to them as they've usually been on the BBC or been somewhere flash. "Welcome to my bedroom", I often say and after that they seem to be ok with it!
Anyway, I couldnt let the fact that my guests were going to be on to other radio stations go without an attempt at some publicity! I challanged Fine 69 to give the show and station a plug for a round of drinks and they said yes! On the way to the comedy night I tuned into Crown Jules on KCFM to see if they'd actually do it. Typically, they didnt manage to get a word in edgeways, so it looks like my wallet is staying firmly shut!
Both Alan Canvess from the Hull & East Riding Campaign for Real Ale & James Christoper made a second appearances on the show last week.
I thought it would be a good idea to get Alan back on to give us the lowdown on the forthcoming Hull Real Ale & Cider Festival. The event takes place on 27th, 28th and 29th of March at the Horncastle Building on George Street in Hull. There will be 34 handpumps, 25 Ciders/Perries, 15 Belgian/German Bottled Beers, thats 74 altogether! If thats wet your appetite then here's the good news, entry is free up until 6pm on the Thursday & Friday nights, after that it'll cost you the measley some of two english pounds! (Free entry to all card carrying CAMRA members). As a CAMRA member I'll be working at the event, so I'm hoping for first pick of the ciders! More details on the show on Sunday.
James Christopher was on down the line from America, well it certainatly sounded like it! Everytime I asked a question there was a pause before he answered. We still don't know why there was a time delay, he was only in York, hardly a million miles away is it! James gave us the details about the Carnival 69 comedy night which was taking place later that night.
After the show, a quick pizza was called for, then a few drinks and then I became "Cider Mike" (its a bit like Bananaman, remember him? He used to like Bananas! Crazy eh!?) and I went to see James, Sam and the rest of the acts at the Comedy Night. Yet again a very enjoyable affair and I reccommend it to anyone who likes a laugh! I'll let you know the details of the next one on the show this Sunday so you can make plans to get your backside out!
Its Monday today and as yet the show for Sunday is still a blank page, so if you have someone you think I should get on as a guest then drop me a line here: mikebrownradioshow@live.co.uk
Before I go, here's a new feature on my blog called "I'm bored and I havent got anything better to do"
- The smile is the most frequently used facial expression. A smile can use anywhere from a pair of 5 to 53 facial muscles. So now you know.
- A man named Charles Osborne had the hiccups for approximately sixty-nine years. Blimey!
- Russian men who had a beard during the time of Peter the Great had to pay a special tax. Get away!
- The right lung of a human is larger than the left one. This is because of the space and placement of the heart. Really!?!
- The sensitivity of a woman's middle finger is reduced during menstruation. I knew that already!
- The small intestine in the human body is about 2 inches around, and 22 feet long. Just imagine that!
- There are 10 million bacteria at the place where you rest your hands at a desk. Nice eh?!
Right that's it from me, thanks for coming!
I'll catch you on the wireless this Sunday 2-6.
