Is that it?!

Mike Brown's picture

...I've heard that a few times. However on this occasion I'm talking about Easter.
Is it just me or is it shorter? No, of course it isnt but it certainatly seems it when you compare it with when you were a kid. I used to get a lot more eggs too, eggs shouldnt just be for kids! If you happen to have any spare then feel free to donate them to the new Seaside FM 105.3 campaign called "An egg is not just for Easter" and I'll find them a new home! MY BELLY!

It may have seemed shorter because both ITV and BBC seemed to make less of a fuss about it, by this what I mean is that they were repeating films that were last on at Christmas! What a load of rubbish! It may even have seemed shorter because I was doing my wireless programme on Sunday and spent less time doing Easter type things! Still, my show is on a Sunday, so whoever it is that arranges Easter willl just have to move it next time!

Apart from Easter, something else happened at home over the weekend... my boiler broke down. This meant I had no hot water or heating which is just fantastic when were having what seems like the coldest weather of the year! The rest of the week looks cold and then the backend of the week looks wet, so its hardly getting any better!. Does anyone know a good (and cheap) plumber!?

It was that cold last night that I could see my breath when I woke up this morning at 5.45am. I went down stairs and took in the TV news. Get this, I saw that some bloke is campaigning that the Shetland Islands are not actuallly legally part of Scotland!

His name is Stuart Hill and he settled on Shetland in 2001 after his boat capsized.Apparantly, he was trying to circumnavigate the British Isles, as you do! He is actually the defender in a civil action, but will argue that Scots law has no jurisdiction over him.

Scotland's claim to Shetland dates back to 1469 when King Christian of Denmark pawned the islands to the Scots crown. Mr Hill will go to Lerwick Sheriff Courts to say that it was only meant to be a long-term loan until the debt could be redeemed.

He said his research had led him to the "inescapable conclusion" that at no point in Shetland's history did the Crown acquire ownership of the islands. Mr Hill intends to argue that case today, when he is due to appear as the defender in a civil action being brought by a local accountancy firm. He will claim that the court and the whole of Scots law has no jurisdiction over him what so ever!

Mr Hill wants to redefine Shetland's relationships with Scotland even though historians have traditionally accepted that Scotland did legally annex the islands, along with the Orkney Isles.

So, next time you get a parking ticket, just take the town you live in to court and say that you have no right to give me a ticket as your not officallly in charge of this town because it is in fact a part of Mongolia and not England, or something like that!
