Good Head & Big Clocks

Howdy!
Tis only me again with another update on the weird world of The Mike Brown Radio Show.
Today is Saturday and I'm worn out, possible because last night I was at the Hull Real Ale & Cider Festival. Before you say that I'm always out drinking I wasn't! I actually volunteered to glass collect...OK, maybe I did have the odd one or two...or three or four!
The fact that I was working didn't stop it from being a was a great night and I even got to sit down and watch The Harriwatts Band (friends of the show) in the theatre for a while. I also saw the boss from WHCR (the West Hull equivalent of Seaside FM) who was interviewing Alan Canvess from CAMRA and looking a little worse for wear! What a disgrace, you'd never catch me interviewing someone whilst I was drunk! Haha!
While I'm talking about CAMRA I'm wondering if maybe I can persuade you to support one of their campaigns. Every glass at the festival was oversized, this guarantees you a full measure every time. However, visit any pub and your given a pint which will generally only be 95% liquid, in fact the current law means you may receive a pint that is only 90% full! What a rip off!
In fact, I was in a pub in Hull last week and the dizzy blonde behind the bar served me a Cider with a massive frothy head on it. I tried to explain that Cider shouldn't have a head but it was like talking to a brick wall. Now, lager and bitter is different, that should have a head, but I see no reason why you can't have a full measure and then the head on top of that.
Back in the 1997 General Election, the Labour Party promised that it would protect consumers from short beer measures. 10 years later and the Government still haven't kept its promise and are cheated consumers out of £1.3 million every single day.
You can help by signing the National full pints petition here.
If all of this has whetted your appetite and you want to support the British Brewing and Pub industry by getting involved with The Campaign for Real Ale & Cider then you can join by clicking here. You'll recieve a copy of the members newspaper 'What's Brewing' and free/discounted entry to various beer festivals across the country, including the Great British Beer Festival.
On the show tomorrow (or today if you're reading this on Sunday, or on March 30th 2008 if your reading this after it's happened - I think of everybody me!), we have singer songwriter Natalie Roe. Nat will be popping in after 3 for a chat about her songs (including a number about Hull!) and her recent performance at the 'Off the Road' night at the Adelphi Club.
I hope she doesn't forget that clocks forward tonight, otherwise I'll be talking to her at 2pm instead of 3pm as we loose an hour don't we? Yes, I think that's right! I've had a special big clock installed at home to remind me this year as I have been known to forget! Anyway, it's officially the start of British Summer Time so that's good news aint it?! We may be losing an hour but with extra daylight in the evenings but just think about those long hot sunny days that are getting closer! Someone make me a Pina Colada!
See ya Sunday on Seaside FM 105.3!
Take Care,
Mike Brown.
