Mike Brown meets Avalon Way

Mike Brown meets Avalon Way

Me with Rik Holden, Ric Roberts, James McNeill and Matt Dearden from Avalon Way.

This excellent four piece band Avalon Way came in on The Mike Brown Radio Show to talk to me about their future plans and of course to perform live in the studio.

Avalon Way told me that they were touring in Burnley, Edinburgh, Newcastle Upon Tyne, South Shields, Accrington and even Brighton! I asked them why Withernsea and Hull had been missed out and cheekily suggested they should perform here!

UPDATE: Unfortunatly, whilst updating my articles on the site I have stumpled upon some news from the Avalon Way website, it reads: "It is with great sadness I have to deliver the news that Avalon Way have finally called it a day. The split is 100% amicable and the four of us will be friends for a long time but myself (Ric) and Chris have decided to put music on the back-burner and pursue other things in life. Rik and Matt have both decided to keep up the good fight and have plans to start a new band that I’m sure will surpass the achievements of Avalon Way in everyway. So watch this space.

We’d like to thank every single one of you that turned up to gigs, bought our merchandise, downloaded our tunes, checked our myspace, partied with us, made us laugh and believed in us until the end. We would not be who we are without you.

Since we never planned to just fade away and disappear we’re planning one last gig. It will take place at our spiritual home The Millstone, Darwen on Thursday 4th September with stuff kicking off at 8:30pm. We’d love to see as many old faces as possible. We will be playing pretty much everything we’ve written in the seven years we’ve been together. No holes barred. That includes songs from back in the day when we were called “If All Else Fails”, if anyone can remember that far back. We have a massive back catalogue so feel free to shout requests for us to prepare via email, myspace, text if you have our numbers or post if you know where we live!

On a more business like note we have a lot of PA equipment we’ll need to get rid of and Stan, our pimped out Transit van will be going up for sale too. If anyone is interested please get in touch.

See you soon

I think it's a big shame that the boys have split as they were one of the hardest working bands we had on the show, you only had to look at their vast tour dates to back that up.

Good luck to them, whatever they do next.

Mike.
