Incidently, Promoting and Batman - This Weeks Blog!!!

Thanks for dropping by.
Well, my legs are still a bit sore from Sunday, where after a gruelling 4 hour show, I was then silly enough to agree that running round Withernsea going up to random strangers with car stickers and a big cardboard display thing would be a pleasant alternative to my usual lazy afternoon nap-time. Much to my suprise, and despite the fact that, in the words of Mike's producer Will, "We must have walked twenty miles today" it was a very fun day. We met a lot of people in various shops, pubs, cafes and lighthouses, most of whom were lovely, some of whom were rude and some who were just plain scared. Team three - the young team - stuck to Withernsea initially and then when we signed Martin Pritchett on a free from the then defunct team two, kind of the equivalent of Burnley signing Didier Drogba on transfer deadline day, we shot out through Patrington and nearly into Winestead, before being called back to give Mike a free pint.
If you missed it, you missed a treat, honestly. It sounded great, it was a good laugh for us and hopefully it's meant there's more people reading this than ever before. So thank you to everyone who took part, and particularly Mike for organising the whole thing, albeit that he was sat in a comfy studio while the six of us were running around making idiots of ourselves infront of total strangers. It's a nice job if you can it isn't it.
Most importantly of all, we won, in the end due to Martin holding his nerve in the all or nothing paper, scissors, stone tie-breaker.
Anyway my week has largely been trying to stop myself getting excited about the Batman film that's out next week. It hasn't really worked as last night I watched the 1989 Batman, with Jack Nicholson - am I the only one who often mixes up the names Jack Nicholson and Jack Nicholaus? It often happens in conversation where I end up not understanding why people are confused when I'm talking about Tiger Wood's chances of beating The Jokers Major Tournament record, or about how good the Golden Bear is in As Good As It Gets, or The Shining. Just me then is it? Ok.
Anyway, the 1989 Batman film is just brilliant, I often forget how over the top and almost camp The Joker is in the film, so it will be interesting to see how Heath Ledger actually plays him, I anticipate it being a much character darker though. I shall be watching Batman Begins one day next week I think, which will really get me going as it is, in my eyes, one of the best films ever made, quite apart from being an excellent precursor to The Dark Knight.
On a different note, however, I went to see Wanted at the cinema last week. In all honesty, it's one of the worst films ever made. Even though polite society dictates that you should be nice about Angelina Jolie cause she's just had kids, you just can't say that the film is anything other than total dross and an utter waste of time. I also saw Hancock, busy week for me, which was alright. Hopefully I will be seeing Narnia tomorrow so that will probably feature in this spot next week.
As for the show, it should be another good one, with the Motown Half Hour, True or False, Not Quite the Missing Words Quiz, Words you can't say on the radio and everything else as usual. As normal if there's anything you'd like to add to the agenda, daveonseasidefm@hotmail.co.uk is the way to do it.
One final thing, I received an email yesterday saying that I use the word 'Incidently' too much in these things. I have to say, I haven't noticed that I do, I don't even like the word very much, but I will try and cut it out from now on.
Incidently, my favourite word at the moment is baboon.
That's that then.
See you on Sunday
