Mike Brown meets Steve Caprice
Here's me wth Steve Caprice (aka The Rocking Reverend) in the studio.
Steve is actually a Minister (Rev. Dr.) who works for United Kingdom Outreach Ministries and he raises funds for various Outreach projects by performing as an Elvis Tribute Artiste and on this occasion he was performing at the Summer Spectacular in Withernsea.
Steve performed alll of Elvis' songs from the early Rock 'n' Roll era, to the movies and even the later years of Elvis in concert.
After his set in the Valley gardens was over, Steve came in to tell me about his obssession with the king, infact he's been a fan of Elvis since he was just seven years old and this has inspired him to become the tribute act that he is today.
Steve's can be seen performing at social clubs, pubs, hotels, golf clubs, stadiums, colleges, racecourses, our very own lighthouse in Withernsea and even in the states! During his early years he was fortunate to meet Billy Ray Cyrus and Dolly Parton! In 2007, Steve was the UK Elvis Gospel Award Winner in a competition which took place in Porthcawl in Mid-Glamorgan, Wales.
His award was presented by none-other than Charles Stone, Elvis's tour manager in the early to mid-1970s. Charles commented to Steve that he was one of the best Elvis impersonators he'd ever seen and he was happy to endorse him as an excellent tribute to the king.
I say long may rock n roll live and needless to say Steve Caprice has now left the building...
Thank you very much!
