Mike Brown's Pub Of The Week: The Spread Eagle, Withernsea.

My Pub Of The Week this week is The Spread Eagle on Queen Street in Withernsea.

I've been to The Spead Eagle, or The Spead as the locals call it, on many occasions, even before my time working in Withernsea at Seaside FM. It's one of those pubs that prides itself on putting on bands, singers and artists regularly, so if your a fan of on the live music scene as I am, then chances are you've probably been to The Spread Eagle too.

The Spread Eagle is rapidly becoming the venue to see local artists, bands such as Fine 69, Pitful Reign, Happy New Beer, Stealer, Infinite and Sworn Amongst have all performed there and The Spread Eagle even had its own mini-festival in 2008 called 'Spreadfest'.

The pub has a great atmosphere and I can tell you from experience that the regulars are friendly and welcoming, it's not one of those places where the locals stare at you when you walk through the door!

I can regularly be found having lunch in The Spread Eagle on a Sunday an hour or two before my radio show. Last time I was there I was nursing a bit of a sore head and was desperately in need of some hangover food. I opted for the Lasagne from the pubs main menu and it was just what the doctor ordered!

If you find yourself at a loose end, you fancy a bite to eat or if you want a good night out then call in at the Spread Eagle at 72 Queen Street in Withernsea. You can find out details of which bands are on and any other information you require by calling (01964) 612500.

Cheers!
Mike Brown.
