Holderness Vikings vs East Riding Rugby Match 11/10/08

We went along and presented ourselves as acting professionals....not. It was a dry day for the Holderness Vikings match with a reasonable turnout against the team East Riding, and what a match it was.
Two players sent off, two others sin binned and the teams sharing 80 points between them (sort of).
Referee Mark Charlton had a busy day having to brandish his cards out 4 times during a fiery game which saw both teams fighting amongst themselves not once but twice, which resulted in a yellow card for both sides.
Holderness Vikings took control of the game early on with trys coming from Hope, Fletcher & Mills, 2 conversions from Gant made the score after 20 mins 16-0 to Holderness.
East Riding did reply with a try from Morfit converted by Butler to make the score 16-6.
After the first fight took place it really fired up the Holderness Vikings in the right way and 2 trys from John McCloude and 1 from his brother Ali put Holderness in a strong position, made even stronger when Jones scored just on half time bringing the score to 38-6.
The second half started the way the first half ended with a try from Ali McCloude, converted by Gant making it 44-6.
Then came the first of the sending offs for East Riding, Morfit left the field following a high tackle after the referee had already warned both teams about persisting fouling.
The next few trys for Holderness Vikings were followed up by John McCloude scoring 2 trys back to back making that his 4th try of the game, trys were then scored by Gott, Gant putting the Holderness Vikings score 64-6.
East Riding then got another man sent off following an off the ball incident, but surprisingly East Riding were the next to score with a Gleeson try. Fletcher then score for the Holderness Vikings to finish off the hammering to make the score 70-10.
As you can read, a very intensifying game which even I enjoyed. They were all very pleased with me and Paul for coming and entertaining the crowd and teams with music before, at half time and end of match. Paul announced which players were getting the trys during the match which saw the players getting cheers from the growing crowd.
They enjoyed it that much, we are there again next weekend where the Holderness Vikings will be head to head with East Hull, on the 18th Oct on Saltough Road playing fields, Keyingham 2pm kick off.
