The Kinks, interviews, and other stuff!

Howdy!
For those of you are missing your regular dose of Sunday afternoon frolicks on The Mike Brown Radio Show here's a quick blog with some news I think you might be interested in.
Music News
There was a rumour knocking around that The Kinks might be getting back together, and being a bit of a fan of their music it's something I've kept a close eye on. Well, today Ray Davies has said that The Kinks ARE actually writing songs again, possibly for a new album.
In an interview with BBC news, he's said "We've started a little bit of this and that, It depends if there's good music. We want good new music. I'd like to do it as a more collaborative thing than we used to do."
Back in September on BBC Radio 4, Ray Davies said that the reunion wouldn't be done as a nostalgia act, but only as an act that made new material and today's interview seems to confirm this.
The Kinks disbanded back in 1996 after over 30 years as one of the most influential bands in music history.
Rays' brother and guitarist with the group, Dave Davies suffered a stroke in 2004, but has returned to making music in recent years. Earlier this year, he had posted comments like "it would be like a poor remake of 'Night of the Livin' Dead" on his website, suggesting that a reunion wouldn't happen.
Ray Davies also has several other projects in the pipeline, so even if we don't get The Kinks, we should get something from Ray. He is apparantly working on an album with a choir and another album he hopes will include collaborations with members of Snow Patrol, Razorlight and the legend that is Chuck Berry!
All this talk of The Kinks reminds me of the interview I did with the lead vocalist from a local Kinks tribute band called 'Kinked'.
Kinked
Kinked performed at the Summertime Special concert held in Withernsea's Valley Gardens during the summer and I managed to grab a quick chat with front-man Pete Johnson in his car! A bit random I know, but needs must!
We briefly touched on the fact that The Kinks could be getting back together, but obviously at the time we didn't know if the newspapers had blown it out of proportion or not.
The 45's
Another interview that can also be found on Youtube is me in the studio talking to The 45's, a local beat group who play mod-style stuff from the sixties. The lads also performed at Withernnsea's Summertime Special on 24th August and popped in for a chin-wag after their gig.
Thanks to Big Dave for filming the above, he tells me that he's available to film weddings and 'personal' home movies!
Any other business
You may have noticed I've posted a blog enttitled "Mike Brown's guide to not having a hangover!", why have I done this? Well,I just thought what with the festive period approaching that it'd be a good idea to give you some tips! If you haven't read it yet then click 'ere, I don't do it for the benefit of my health y'know!!!
Just before I go, you're probably asking what happened to the show on a Sunday afternoon, and if you're not then you should be! Well, I've taken a bit of a sabbatical from Seaside FM and instead am spending time on other projects, and sleep! As you can tell, I'm still posting blogs and regularly updating the local news feed on the front page.
That's it for now, thanks for reading!
