East Yorkshire author Jack Everett
Posted April 24th, 2008 by Joachim
Today's guest on the show was author Jack Everett, whose new book Death and Taxes is now available. Jack has written science fiction, historical fiction, and his fantasy novel for young adults Merlin's Kin was described as 'more grown up than Harry Potter, less serious than Pullman with shades of Narnia'.
Jack's books can purchased from Archimedes Press, Littleoaks, Busk Lane, Church Fenton, LS24 9RJ, and postage is free if you mention this station.

But is it a poem?
Posted April 17th, 2008 by Joachim
Susan joined me on the show today, and we discussed this article in last Sunday's Observer: campaigners from the Queen's English Society say that before something can be called a poem, it has to meet certain standards such as having rhyme and metre.
Sounds to me like somebody's out there with a clipboard, checking poetry to see if it comes up to standard or not. Here at Seaside FM we disagree with this approach. Susan read a selection of poems, her own, and also some by Tennyson among others. Not all of them rhymed.
And if you were listening, I regaled you with this short and sweet one by Adrian Mitchell.
