East Riding of Yorkshire Council has scooped an award in the prestigious Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) Network Performance Awards at the Village Hotel, Blackpool.

East Riding Leisure Withernsea has won the Most Improved Leisure Centre Award, with East Riding Leisure Haltemprice a finalist in the Best Performing Leisure Centre category.

This is the first time East Riding Leisure Withernsea has scooped the award after coming out as most improved in areas including income generation, increased usage in memberships, achieving the Centre’s highest number of swimming lessons and school lessons, increased sports hall usage for local partners, and customer satisfaction.

Councillor Nick Coultish, Cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said : “Huge congratulations to everybody involved with East Riding Leisure Withernsea! This prestigious award is well deserved, and is a real vote of confidence in the Centre and the amazing work it does for the health and wellbeing of the community.”

APSE performance networks is the UK's largest voluntary data benchmarking service for local authorities, sharing information on cost, productivity, service quality and customer satisfaction across local council frontline services. For the annual awards, over 200 authorities submit data which is independently validated, and compared with other authorities to see how effective services are, and identify those authorities which have shown the best performance or biggest improvements.
