Following his successful Beverley and Holderness's Favourite Independent Shop awards, Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, has visited the nominated shops in Withernsea to deliver stickers for the shops to display in their windows.
Graham's competition, the first in a series of competitions to celebrate businesses across the area, was enormously successful, with over 2,000 people nominated and voting for their favourite shops.
Graham met Brent Dunning at Inspired, Helen Cleworth at Precious Prints, Liz Downing at the Card Shop, Amanda Becket at the Hair Lounge, Jamie Brown at Holderness Hardware, Pippa and Bruce at SHoRes Community Pantry, Julie at Stylists, Paul Ashwell at Moores and Amanda Bailey at Bella Moda, the officially named Withernsea's favourite shop.
Graham ran this competition to highlight the wonderful independent shops in Withernsea, showing the strength of the community and some of the wonderful businesses in the community. He hopes that it will show people from across the area that Withernsea has an exciting, vibrant shopping scene.
Graham was in Withernsea as part of his plan to Deliver a Better Withernsea, which includes working with every possible stakeholder to create a more connected, healthier Withernsea that is open for business and we can be proud of.
Graham recently worked with the Council to improve bus connections in the town, supported the local NHS's efforts to carry out 3,000 lung checks in the area, pushed for better use of Withernsea Community Hospital's X-ray department and promoted mentoring and funding schemes available to businesses in the town.
Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: "Independent shops are the heart of communities like Withernsea.
