John Lewis to open in-store health clinics in partnership with Randox

November 24, 2023

John Lewis is opening health clinics in some stores as it tries to boost flagging sales.

Shoppers will be able to get full-body checks for potential health issues, as well as tests for things such as vitamin deficiencies and hormone imbalances.

It's setting them up with Randox Health and appointments are already bookable for next month at the first clinic in High Wycombe.

They will also open at Bluewater and Cheltenham in December and January respectively, with the aim of opening more across its 34 stores.

John Lewis already offers optician services and beauty and wellness clinics in some locations.

The new tie-up comes as the business tries to boost profits and deliver greater productivity and efficiency.

However, the wider John Lewis Partnership - which includes Waitrose - recently warned its transformation plan would take two years longer than expected.

The challenges have knocked its famous annual bonuses, with staff getting nothing last year.

Its boss, Dame Sharon White, also revealed last month she will step down when her five-year term ends in February 2025.

Randox has 20 UK branches and offers "innovative diagnostic technologies" for conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Its John Lewis deal will include staffed waiting areas and private consultation rooms.

Naomi Simcock, executive director of John Lewis, said: "As trusted stores for local communities across the country, we can play an important role by making services like healthcare and wellness more convenient and accessible.

"In Randox we have an experienced and innovative partner to extend our range of in-store services, to help customers proactively manage their health and wellbeing."
