A teenager has appeared in court charged with the murder of a young man in Glasgow.

Ryan Willcox, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers were called to Castlemilk's Stravanan Road at around 4.30pm on Friday.

Police Scotland subsequently launched a murder inquiry and arrested and charged an 18-year-old man in connection with Mr Willcox's death.

Suspect James Wilson made no plea to the murder charge when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

The teenager has also been accused of breaching a bail condition.

Wilson, of Glasgow, was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next week.

Following Mr Willcox's death, Detective Inspector Stuart Gillies said: "Our thoughts are very much with Ryan's family and friends at what is a very difficult time, and they are being provided with support by specialist officers.

"We believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community.

"We have a dedicated team of officers working on this investigation and extensive enquiries are ongoing at this time.

"I understand that this is an upsetting incident for the local community and I would urge anyone with concerns to speak to one of our officers."
