Halifax: Man, 19, dies and second teen in life-threatening condition after crash

A 19-year-old man has died and a second teenager is fighting for his life after a car carrying six people crashed into a wall in Halifax.

Police are appealing for information following the collision in Calderdale shortly after 11.15pm yesterday.

A white Seat Ibiza was travelling on Brow Lane towards Low Bentley when it hit the wall, West Yorkshire Police said.

The 19-year-old driver died at the scene and an 18-year-old man was taken to hospital in a critical condition - thought to be life threatening, the force added.

Four other passengers in the vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries. All were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

A scene and road closure are in place and officers from the major collision enquiry team are investigating the crash.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was driving or lives in the area to check their dashcam or CCTV for any relevant footage that could assist with the investigation.

Police are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the white Seat Ibiza on Halifax Road or being driven in the area before the crash.
