Actor who played terrifying masked character at Willy Wonka-themed event unmasks herself

March 05, 2024

An actor who played a masked character that terrified children at a now-infamous Willy Wonka-themed event has revealed herself.

TikTok user @felicia.wishes said she was thrilled her first paid acting job had gone viral.

Taking off the mask of her character "The Unknown", Felicia said she was a 16-year-old girl from Glasgow.

Footage from the event showed her dressed in a black cape and silver face mask appearing from behind a mirror.

Youngsters can be heard wailing "no" as she emerges.

Glasgow mum Maryanne McCormack, who took the video, previously told Sky News her daughter retreated and hid in her jacket.

She added: "Some of the other kids were upset. It was just very odd because I couldn't figure out the relevance."

In her unveiling video, Felicia included a number of photos of her in the outfit from the day.

"One of the Oompa Loompas gave me a bag of sweets because I had not eaten the whole day," she says. "I was sat behind that mirror and I was sore and I was starving."

She also posted behind-the-scenes footage, walking through an area featuring cartoon mushrooms, marshmallows, rainbows, clouds, and large Wonka bars.

Speaking of the creepy-looking character, Jack Proctor, from Coatbridge in North Lanarkshire, told Sky News: "Our kids, like every kid in the place, were terrified of it.

"It was supposedly an evil chocolate-maker that lived in the walls of the factory. Out of context it was weird, but nothing in there made sense, so it fit in well."

Janine Yardley also told of her disappointment, especially for her son, Elliot, who had dressed up as an Oompa Loompa for the occasion.

She said the schoolboy was "really angry" as he "didn't even get a bit of chocolate - not even a Freddo".

Organiser House of Illuminati was forced to cancel "Willy's Chocolate Experience" after parents complained the event was not what was advertised.

Police Scotland said officers were called to the cancelled event and "advice was given".

House of Illuminati apologised and promised full refunds in a Facebook post, which has since been deleted.
